City of Armadale child car restraints fitting and checking station - $3,203.00
The purpose of the project is to seek funding to be able to promote the availability of a monthly Child Car Seat Fitting Service and Safety Checks on the 1st Tuesday of every month during 2010. This will be held at The Champion Centre, located on Champion Drive Seville Grove and is owned and operated by the City of Armadale.  The purpose of the Centre is to provide a culturally appropriate setting for the provision of services and programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Activities operating from the Centre are provided by agencies, non-profit organisations and other community groups working in partnership with the City of Armadale. The City is partnering with the Department for Communities and Uniting Care West, both of whom run services from the Centre.  The Centre is also next door to a Library and Shopping Centre. The Child Car Restraints Fitting & Checking Station will meet all the requirements of Type 1 CCRF Manual.  Each check will result in completion of a CCRF Service Checklist that will be sent to Roadwise for collaboration. The Event will be advertised in the local paper and posters will be hung up in local shopping centres promoting the Service.

Road Safety guide to the Gibb River Road and other roads in the Kimberley - $2,950.00
Every year increasing numbers of domestic and international tourists visit the Kimberley.  For many it is the first time they have driven a Four Wheel Drive and the first time they have driven on an unsealed road.  Many international tourists head off ill equipped to deal with an emergency or ignorant of the isolation and distance in the Kimberley.  Each year there are a number of rollovers on unsealed roads in the Kimberley and many result in fatalities and serious injuries. The aim of this project is to re-produce a regional tourist road safety guide which will target domestic and international visitors to the Kimberley.  The guide will ensure that road users are both aware and well informed of the hazards and road safety issues on Kimberley roads. The guide covers those issues that are specifically relevant to the Kimberley such as stock on roads, crossing creeks and rivers, fires, road trains and dust.  It will also provide information on major road safety issues such as speed, drink driving, restraints and fatigue. This will be the fourth edition of the guide, which was piloted by RoadWise and Main Roads WA (Kimberley Division) in the tourist season of 2002.  Due to the success of the pilot guide and support from tourist agencies, it has been decided to seek funding to reprint the guide for the coming 2010 tourist season. The publication is strongly supported by Police, Main Roads WA, the tourism sector and RoadWise Committees across the Kimberley.
