Slow Down in Mandurah - City of Mandurah - $10,250.00
The City of Mandurah project aims to encourage motorists using our roads to slow down through the:
- Distribution of the consider our kids bin stickers to be widely distributed in the vicinity of all local schools. Where bin stickers are distributed each household will also receive information about bin stickers and the consequences of speeding. It is anticipated that this part of the project will be provided in close partnership with the School Drug Education and Road Aware, Safe Routes to Schools groups, SES and local Police.
- Continued use of the City's mobile speed trailers.
- Distribution of Office of Road Safety collateral material.
The project will be coordinated by the Mandurah RoadWise Committee and will also be used to promote the committee to the community. The committee will commit to promoting the Community Road Safety Grants Program as stipulated in the condition of accepting grant funds. We will acknowledge the program in all communication regarding the Slow Down in Mandurah campaign by including its logo and blurb that describes the sources including articles in the council publications, local newspapers and radio. The logo and blurb will be included on all evaluation questionnaires used and funding will be acknowledged in reports produced.
Esperance Road Safety Initiative - Shire of Esperance - $17,010.00
The Esperance RoadWise Committee intends to apply for a combined grant application to finance a number of projects and programs within the region. These include Speed Awareness, Child Safety, Drink Driving and Driving Tired, all of which are part of the Road Safety Council's Strategy Western Australia 2007. Promotion of speed awareness programs: "Please Slow Down - Consider Our Kids", "Speed and the Police Will Stop You", "Safer Speeds" etc Promotion of Safer Driving Practices. "Drvier Reviver" Project and signs to provide the "Drive with Headlights On" message as a program targeting fatigue. Establishing a permanent Driver Reviver parking station that may also be used as a rest area for weary travellers. Promotion of the "Don't Drink and Drive" and "Drinking Kills Driving Skills" campaign by providing a scenario whereby the sensation of driving while under the influence of alcohol may be experienced by use of Fatal Vision Goggles.
