The ARK (Armadale, Roleystone, Kelmscott) RoadWise Committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month at the City of Armadale Administration Building.

Projects/Issues

The ARK RoadWise Committee is continuously advocating and promoting road safety in the City of Armadale area – look out for their messages in your local paper, at football games, events and festivals. Also, you will see their crash trailer with the quote "this aint no joke" in different locations.

The City of Armadale received funding from the Community Road Safety Grants Program to purchase a speed display trailer. The trailer is deployed at various locations in the City of Armadale to educated drivers about their travel speeds and safe road use. The speed display trailer is one of a number of tools that the ARK RoadWise Committee in aiming to reduce travel speeds in the City of Armadale.

Alcohol Think Again Perth Heat Police Christmas Campaign Launch – December 2011

For the second successful year in a row the ARK RoadWise Committee and Gosnells RoadWise Advisory Group attended the launch of the police Christmas campaign. The Towards Zero trailer and keen committee members promoted the road safety message. There was great enthusiasm from the crowd with the distribution of 1000 white ribbons.

The City of Armadale is one of the leaders in fleet safety in Western Australia. The City has a comprehensive fleet safety policy that covers the seven key elements of fleet safety and continues to improve their vehicle safety record.

 

Coming Up

January 2012 – Blow 0.00 and Win
To encourage and reward those who don’t drink and drive local police are offering drivers a chance to win great prizes in the Blow 0.00 and Win promotion. This campaign highlights the importance of organising a skipper or staying over when venturing out socially. The message is simple: if you plan to drink, plan not to drive.

March 2012 – Minnawarra Festival
The Minnawarra Festival is truly a community celebration. There is something for everyone, with displays, crafts, food stalls, games and rides, free activities for children and live music. The ARK RoadWise Committee will have a presence on the day. This event spreads across Minnawarra and Memorial Parks, Armadale Town Hall and Jull St Mall.

April 2012 – Blessing of the Roads
A major campaign on the ARK RoadWise Committee’s calendar. Look out for media and event details closer to Easter time.

October 2012 – Kelmscott Show
Every year the ARK RoadWise Committee has a road safety display at the Kelmscott Show to promote and educate the showgoers on different road safety issues.

November 2012 – Highland Gathering
The ARK RoadWise Committee will feature again this year at the annual Highland Gathering – an event with fantastic atmosphere and a sea of kilts and tartan. The speed display trailer and the ARK RoadWise Committee will be there to provide road safety information to attendees.

December 2012 – White Ribbons for Road Safety
The ARK RoadWise Committee will be attending the annual Christmas Carols held by the City of Armadale. The Committee will hand out white ribbons and remind everyone to be safe on the roads during the festive season.
