Bayswater

The City of Bayswater covers an area of 32.7 square kilometres, has 351 km of sealed roads, and a population of approximately 61,264 in over 26,280 residential dwellings.

Meeting Dates

The City's RoadWise Advisory Committee meets on the second Tuesday of every second month.

Committee Membership

The Committee has representation from City of Bayswater staff and elected members, police, FESA, Lions Club, WALGA RoadWise Program and the community.

The purpose of the Committee is to:

  • Encourage safe use of the City’s road network by motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Be aware of existing and potential road safety problems, and implement strategies to solve them.
  • Provide a means of two way communication and participation between the community and the City of Bayswater on matters pertaining to road safety such as the Australian Road Rules, open load space legislation, use of hand-held mobile phones and the 50km/hr urban speed limits.
  • Provide feedback to the Office of Road Safety on planned legislation and new changes to road rules.
  • Identify and source funding to implement road safety projects.

Projects/Issues

  • Bin stickers
    The City runs the "Please slow down, consider our kids" bin sticker project in conjunction with road safety display trailers to reduce local travel speeds.
  • Speed display trailer
    The City uses a speed display trailer that indicates the speed at which drivers are travelling and provides visual feedback, for example, “well done” or “slow down” to help reduce travels speed in the local area.
  • Crash car display
    The City used a crash car display at various events to promote safe driving practices within the community
  • Child car restraint regulations displays
    Information on the child car restraint regulation changes is promoted by the City at community events and shopping centres.
