Road safety issues are addressed through the Local Emergency Management Committee which meets regularly. The contact person is the Officer in Charge, Norseman Police Station.

Projects/Issues

Norseman is a central point for people travelling along the very busy Eyre Highway.

Issues of concern with this stretch of highway include:

• Fatigue
• Interaction of heavy vehicles and light vehicles;
• Changes in road rules and speeds between states
• Drivers exceeding maximum towing speeds
• Drug/drink driving.

The Police and emergency services personnel confront a significant number of road crashes on this stretch of road.

The Shire of Dundas were successful in obtaining a Community Road Safety Grant for a speed display trailer, which is used regularly throughout the Shire.
