Vehicle safety checks
The City organises free vehicle and trailer checks prior to the Easter and Christmas holiday period. This event has become a good opportunity to provide information about safe vehicles and ANCAP ratings.
Fleet safety policy
The City has also implemented a fleet safety policy with focus on vehicle purchase, stipulating a minimum 5 star ANCAP safety rating for all sedans and 4 star rating for all light commercial vehicles.
Speed display trailer
The City uses a speed display trailer at high risk locations to encourage drivers to adhere to the speed limit.
Staff Driver Development Training
All staff at the City of Swan are encouraged to attend a one day training workshop on safe driving.
Mural displays
The City of Swan fleet trucks and work vehicles assist in promoting road safety by displaying murals that promote safe speeds and seatbelt compliance.
Road safety events and campaigns
The City of Swan participates in road safety events such as the annual Blessing of the Roads and White RibbonsTM for Road Safety campaigns to raise awareness amongst the local community of the importance of road safety.
Blow 0.00 and Win
The City of Swan in partnership with the East Metropolitan Traffic Police organise an annual Blow Zero and Win campaign to promote responsible behaviour with respect to alcohol consumption and driving.
Cyclist safety
The City of Swan recognises cyclists as legitimate road users. The Committee strives to find innovative ways where cyclists and motorists can share roads safely and respect the rights of both on our roads.
