Pilbara Region
Regional Profile
The Pilbara Region is situated in the North West of the state and incorporates four Local Government Areas: Ashburton, East Pilbara, Port Hedland and Roebourne. The region has a population of approximately 48,374 and covers an area of 511,258 sq kms which includes 1,688.4kms of sealed and 5,563.9kms of unsealed roads.
The major industries of the region are mining, oil, gas, tourism, pastoral, fishing and aquaculture.

iPod Winner - Speed and the Police will stop you
The winners of the Pilbara ipod competitions run during September and October were:
Mr Peter Edward (Newman) and Ms Leah Labato (Karratha)
More than 2170 people visited the RoadWise website to enter the competition. Entrants had to answer a series of questions about the impact of speeding when driving.
