The Gascoyne Region is situated in the North West of the state and incorporates four Local Government Areas: Carnarvon, Exmouth, Shark Bay and Upper Gascoyne. The Region has a population of about 10,330 and covers and area of 130,863 sq kms which includes 608.09kms of sealed and 4,072.7kms of unsealed roads.

The region's main industries include tourism, fishing, mining, horticulture and pastoralism.

Although seemingly empty, the North West Coastal Highway is a very busy commercial highway. Take care and be patient when approaching heavy transport and slower vehicles.
