He has a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training.

Ray has previous experience as the Senior Ranger at the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder and working with various community groups in Kalgoorlie. Ray was the Regional Road Safety Officer for the Goldfields-Esperance region for two years prior to transferring to the Wheatbelt North Region.
